Happy Birthday Jimmy

A birthday message from your sister Ruth.

OK this is just a start. Let's build on it.

Some Photographs of the family over the years.
I'll post more later and eventual include a family tree, and have separate sections for the each branches of the family (ie Hills, Holdens, Richards, Davies etc.).

Warning: This blog contains pictures of; Val, Rob, Elaine, & Steven Hill, which some viewer may find disturbing.

Stanley (1898-1977) & Mary (Nee Davies) (1893-1973)

Granddad & Nana, taken probably about 1920.

Stanley Hill in 1915.

Granddad joined the Royal Navy at the start of the the Great War (aged 16), but was invalided out due to a training accident in mid 1915. In early 1916 he volunteered for the army and served in France 1916-1918.
.
I remember in the 1960's he went into hospital to have some pieces of shrapnel removed, shrapnel that he'd carried for almost 50 years by then. But despite: the Royal Navy trying to kill him by dropping machine guns on him, the Kaiser filling him with lead, South Wales mine owners trying to drown him in the 1920's, Hitler dropping a bomb on him, and the yanks giving him radiation poisoning at the end of the second war, he died just a month short of his 79th birthday in 1977. Stanley Hill, my Granddad.

Picnic on the River Weaver probably about 1950.

Aunty Ethel is now in her 90's and still living in Liverpool, she is Nana's niece. Teddy Swan was a family friend at the time. If anyone knows who the others are please let me know.
